My name is Angie and I am a suburban gardener. I live in Queens, NY and I am lucky enough to have a backyard. My grandparents were farmers and I guessed some of that is in me. Still, my mom was the first person I ever saw plant things and I fell in love with it too. Back home we had greenery everywhere (Jamaica, West Indies) and it was really paradise. When we came to this country, we didn’t see much planting here. Sure…people had their flower gardens and potted plants some of which were fake, but no one planted food. It was sad to see so many lawns and empty beds. Some people even paved their garden beds to avoid having to deal with the dirt.
When we got our own place, the first thing we did in spring was plant tomatoes and the rest as they say is history. As you read this blog, I will take you through my garden experiences and hopefully encourage you to join in the fun. It beats going to the gym, you get plenty of fresh air and the money you save on supermarket shopping and doctor visits will put a smile on your face. In addition, any extras you grow, as I always do, you can share with others.
